Orvieto

One of the first weekends of the program our group went to Orvieto, a small medieval hill town located in Italy's Umbria region, about an hour and a half outside of Rome. Orvieto is famous for it's white wines and colorful pottery.

This picture was taken while riding the Funicolare up to the town. The pic on the right is taken at the periphery of the town, looking over the wall that encircles Orvieto.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and had lunch in the Etruscan underground.

After lunch we worked our carbs off by walking around Orvieto's wall. The town is so small you could probably circumambulate it in an hour.

Orvieto is probably best known for it's 14th century Cathedral.

The best views of the town can be seen at the top of the Torre del Moro!

Shannon and I making our way down the dizzying staircase of the torre.

After dinner, the girls and I made our way back to the wall at the edge of town to watch the sunset.
